The Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum was reportedly known as most haunted places in Unites States. The Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum once known as “The Weston State Hospital” was constructed from 1858-1881. It was a kirkbride psychiatric hospital and it was operated from 1864 to 1994 by the government. In 2007 the hospital was bought by Joe Jordan.
This Asylum was home of thousands of people who are with mental illness. In 1994 it was forcibly closed, hundreds of people died in this place before the facility closed. When the aylum’s ground served as a military post, the spirits of them are said to haunt the site today and date back to the Civil war era. The largest hand cut stone masonry buildings in the United States is the hospitals main building. The Hospital was originally designed for 250 patient, but in 1880 717 patients held in the hospital, in 1938, 1661, around 1800 in 1949, and in 1950s over 2600 patients with overcrowded conditions.
